赦しに生きる

マタイ18.21-35

今日の福音書でイエス様は弟子達に赦しについて話しをします。主の祈りの中の「私達の罪をお許しください。私達も人を許します」という願いの解説のような例え話です。

今日の福音書は、私達が日頃苦手だと思っている人についてあえて考え直すことを勧めています。「七回どころか七の七十倍までも赦しなさい。」 このイエス様の言葉は、もし私達が、他人に対して恨みや怒りの感情を抱くなら、私達自身も大きな苦しみを経験するということです。なぜなら、恨みと怒りの感情は、治療することが難しい致命的な病気を心の中に持つことだからです。

神様は私達に計り知れない大きな赦しを与えてくださっていることを皆さんは感じているでしょうか。その神様の赦しに気づいたら、人間同士は赦し合うのが当然だ、と思うべきです。

主の祈りの中で、「罪を赦してください」という祈りでも、「私の」ではなく「私達の」と祈るよう教えられました。自分ひとりが罪を赦されて終わるのでなく、その赦しによって他の人と赦しあって生きるようにと教えておられるのです。主の祈りは、教会に与えられた共同体の祈りです。イエス様は教会が何よりも罪の赦しを願い求め、互いに罪を赦しあう人々の共同体となるために、この祈りを与えてくださったのです。そのことを、今日の福音から学んでいただきたいと思います。

私は今日の福音を通して、偉大な画家であるレオナルドダヴィンチの物語を思い出しました。「最後の晩餐」を描く時、ダヴィンチはしばらくの間、イエス様の顔を描くのを止めました。なぜならば、その時彼は親しい友人と喧嘩をしていたからです。その結果数週間、彼はイエス様の顔を描くことが出来ず、絵を仕上げることができませんでした。そこで彼は問題を解決するために喧嘩をした友人のところへ行って赦しを乞いました。

ダヴィンチは友人の全てを受け入れて赦そうと決心するまで、どのような心の葛藤があったのでしょうか。友人に対する怒りや憎しみ、そして祈りや神様との対話の中で、赦しの中で生きることを選択したのだと思います。そして、あの有名な”最後の晩餐“という作品が完成したのです。どうぞ皆さんも、私達は赦しの中で生きているということを再確認していただきたいと思います。

ところで、今週私は勉強の他に色々なことをやって忙しく、しばしばイライラ焦ったり、不安になったりしていました。しかし、そういう時こそ、私はイエス様によって、愛と許しのうちに生きていると思い起こします。神様は乗り越えられない苦労はお与えにならないと信じて頑張ります。皆さん、どうぞお元気でお過ごしください。メルボルンから皆さんのご健康を祈っています。

LIVE IN FORGIVENESS.

My dear brothers and sisters, in today's Gospel, Jesus speaks to his disciples about forgiveness. In my opinion, this parable of Jesus is a profound explanation of forgiveness that we often recite or sing in the "Our Father" prayer. "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Today's Gospel invites us to remember and acknowledge the people who have offended or hurt us.  Jesus says that forgiving those who sin against us should not be done just seven times, but seventy times seven times. This symbolizes that the act of forgiveness is not limited to time and space, it should be done without limit.  If we harbor feelings of resentment or anger towards others, we ourselves will experience great suffering. Because feelings of resentment and anger are like a deadly disease that is difficult to treat.

The question for us to ponder together today is whether we have ever felt that God has given us unlimited forgiveness? If we realize God's unlimited forgiveness to us, we naturally forgive each other.

The Lord's Prayer is a communal prayer that Jesus taught to the Church. Jesus taught this prayer so that the church can be a community where members live in love and forgiveness.  I want you to learn this from today's Gospel.

While meditating on today's Gospel, I was reminded of the story of the great painter Leonardo da Vinci. When he painted "The Last Supper", da Vinci stopped painting the face of Jesus for a while. It was because he was fighting with a close friend. As a result, for several weeks he was unable to paint the face of Jesus and was unable to finish the painting. So, to solve the problem, he went to the friend with whom he had quarreled and asked for forgiveness. Finally, the painting was completed.

In my opinion, Leonardo da Vinci's life experience is truly extraordinary. Through the twists and turns of his life, through constant prayer and dialogue with God, and through a deep reflection, he finally chose to live in love and forgiveness. Thus, the famous work "The Last Supper" was completed. I would like us to learn from him. Isn't living in love and forgiveness beautiful?

By the way, I was a little busy last week. Besides studies, I also prepared some of my documents for my better future. Sometimes I feel anxious and irritated with the current situation. However, in times like these, living in love and making peace with the situation is what I prioritize. I always do my best and believe that God is always helping me through my family and the people around me. Hopefully, everyone is doing well too.
