 兄弟のように愛し助け合う

マタイ18.15-20

皆さん、今日の福音書でイエス様は私達に非常に明確なメッセージを残してくださいました。それは誰かが悪いことをしたからといって、それを他人に言いふらしてはいけないということです。代わりに、私達がやらなければならないことは、愛を込めて悪い事をした人に、その人の立場を理解しながら忠告することではないでしょうか。

イエス様は「兄弟があなたに対して罪を犯したなら、行って二人だけの所で忠告しなさい」と弟子達に仰いました。ここから学ぶことは人の罪を多くの人と共に共感し裁くのではなく、その人が過ちを正す為に自分は何が出来るのかを考え、心の底から兄弟として愛することだと私は思います。悪い点も良い点も、全てを受け入れる事です。そして、良い時だけ喜びを分かち合うのではなく、お互いの罪を認め合い、正すことこそが、私達が求めている兄弟姉妹の愛のあり方なのではないでしょうか。

皆さん、どんなに親しい人でも、その人に忠告することはとても嫌なものです。自分が相手の立場になって考えるとなかなか出来ることではありません。ですが、兄弟姉妹としてお互いに理解しあい、思いやりをもって、忠告することは、本当の友情だと思います。私達はさらに良いキリスト者である為に、人の忠告を受け入れると同時に、こっそりと相手に忠告してあげる勇気を持つことが必要です。そして忠告をしてくれたことに対して感謝をするという勇気も必要です。これが本当の兄弟姉妹の愛のあり方です。

今週私は英語をもっと真剣に学ぶことに集中しました。正しい文法で、良い記事を書くことは難しいです。一生懸命勉強して書いたのですが、先生からいくつかの添削をされました。何回記事を書いても、先生の添削は減ることがありません。時々、自信が無くなり、投げ出したくなる時もあります。ですが、そういう時こそ、これは先生の愛のサービスだと思うことにしました。先生の添削のひとつひとつが、先生の私の成長に対する期待であり愛だと思うと、とても有り難く嬉しく思います。こういう私の経験も、今日の福音の適用ではないでしょうか。

ところで、先日9月8日は、聖母マリアの誕生や神言修道会の創立の祝日です。今年で神言修道会の創立から148年になります。神言会の宣教活動は「全世界に行って福音を述べ伝えなさい」というイエス様の派遣の言葉を実行することを目的としています。現在、6000人の神言修道会修道者が世界80数カ国で宣教活動を行っています。マリア様の取り次ぎの祈りを通して、彼らの宣教活動が憐れみ深い神様の御心にそって行われますよう、ご一緒に祈りましょう。

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ. In today's Gospel, Jesus has a very important and clear message for us. When someone wrongs us, we should not tell others about it. Instead, what we should do is to admonish those who do wrong while lovingly understanding their position.

Jesus told His disciples that if your brother sins against you, go and warn him privately. In my opinion, what we should learn is not to judge their sins, but to think about what we can do to correct their mistakes and love them as brothers from the bottom of our hearts. Accept all the good and bad points. We should give each other solutions if things go wrong, rather than just sharing the joy of good times. Isn't the act of correcting each other an act of love?

In my opinion, it is a bit difficult when we give corrections or solutions to people who make mistakes. But isn't true friendship when we understand, care for, and advise each other as brothers and sisters? To become a better person, we need to have the courage to accept others' advice and at the same time silently give them advice. We also need the courage to thank those who give us advice. That is how true love should be practiced in our lives every day.

These past few days, I have been focusing on learning English more seriously. Writing good articles with correct grammar is a bit difficult. I try to write my best, but the teacher still makes some corrections. I guess you also have the same experience when learning a foreign language. No matter how well you write, the teacher's corrections will never diminish. Sometimes you lose confidence and want to give up. However, I consider all these corrections as part of a teacher's care and love for his/her students. I am very grateful because every correction my teacher gives me is a teacher's hope and love for my language skills. Isn't my experience like this also an application of the gospel today?

By the way, 8 September is the feast of the birth of the Virgin Mary and the feast of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD). This year is the 148th anniversary of SVD. The mission of SVD is aimed first and foremost to fulfill Jesus' commission: “Go into all over the world and preach the Gospel.” Nowadays, more than 6,000 members of the SVD are doing missionary work in more than 80 countries around the world. Through Mother Mary's intercession, let us pray together that the mission work of SVD missionaries is carried out in accordance with God's will.
