 常に心を神に向けて生きる

マタイ25.1-13

今日の福音書ではイエス様は弟子達に天の国の存在に応じた人間の態度について語っています。天の国は、十人の乙女がそれぞれのともし火を持って、花婿を迎えに出て行くことに例えられました。さらに、この例え話の中でイエス様は3つの登場人物の性格を花婿、5人の賢い乙女、5人の愚かな乙女を通して示してくださいました。

この福音書のメッセージは婚姻の準備の為に油を入手していたかどうかは問題ではありません。問題なのは私達が信仰を持って神様の御心に従っているかどうか、つまりイエス様を救い主として信じているかどうかです。もしその信仰を持っているなら、それがたとえからし種ほどであっても、その人は必ず天の御国に行く事が約束されるのです。

この福音から学ぶ事は賢明である事です。私達の生活において、賢明な態度と行動は自分の人生の目標を達成するために必要不可欠だということだと思います。

イエス様は私達が永遠の命のために日常の生活の中で準備することを望んでいます。私達が目指すのは神の国ですが、この世界は神の国に行く準備をする場所でもあります。神の国に行くためには最も心を尽くし、精神を尽くし、思いを尽くして、神様を大切にし、そして隣人をも自分のように大切にすることです。皆さん、心が常に神様に向いているかを感じながら生活しましょう。　

最後に、皆さん、ハマスとイスラエルの状況についてどう思いますか。残念ながら彼等の憎しみ、そして戦いの歴史は何千年も続いています。もし彼等が聖書を通して今日の福音を読むならば、彼らも神様と隣人を大切にしなければならないと思うはずです。そうでないのが残念でなりません。

和平を結ぶには各当事者が賢明かつ謙虚でなければなりません。これ以上パレスチナ難民が増えるのは見るに耐えません。イスラエルとハマスが戦って人の命を奪いビルを壊すことに何の意味があるのでしょうか。彼等にも信仰があるならば、今すぐにでも悔い改め、罪の赦しをいただき、神様の救いの恵みに拠りすがり、憎しみから慈しむへと心を向けて欲しいと思います。皆さん、ご一緒に今世界各地の戦場で苦しんでいる全ての人達に一日でも早く平和が来ますように祈りましょう。

TURN YOUR HEART TO GOD

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ. In today's Gospel, Jesus speaks to His disciples about human behaviour in response to the existence of the kingdom of heaven. The kingdom of heaven is compared to ten bridesmaids who went out to meet the bridegroom, each of them carrying a lamp. Furthermore, in this parable Jesus shows the characteristics of three characters: the bridegroom, five sensible bridesmaids, and five foolish bridesmaids.

I believe that wise attitudes and actions are essential in our lives to achieve our life goals. Therefore, in this parable, Jesus emphasises us to be wise in organising our lives. Jesus wants us to be wise in following His will, which is to be united with Him one day in the kingdom of heaven. If we are wise and have faith in God even if it is only the size of a mustard seed, we are guaranteed to enter the kingdom of heaven. To enter God's kingdom, we must love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and also love our neighbour as ourselves. Everyone, let us live our lives knowing that our hearts are always set on God. 　

Finally, everyone, what are your thoughts on the situation between Hamas and Israel? Unfortunately, their history of hatred and fighting has continued for thousands of years. If they read the gospel today through the Bible, they should also think that they should respect God and their neighbour. It is unfortunate that this is not the case.

To realise peace, both sides must be wise and humble. What is the point of Israel and Hamas fighting and killing people and destroying buildings? Let us pray may they will be inspired to repent, forgive each other, and change their hearts from hatred to compassion. Everyone, let us pray together that peace will soon be realised for all those suffering on the battlefields around the world.
