 互いに愛し合おう

ヨハネ15.9-17

私はメルボルンでさわやかな朝を迎えています。皆さんはお元気ですか。私達は５月最初の主日を迎えています。

今日の福音の中でイエス様は「私があなたがたを愛したように互いに愛し合いなさい。これが私の掟である」と教えておられます。つまり、神様に繋がるとは神様の愛に留まり、その愛で他者を思いやり愛し合うことです。私達は残念ながら罪人であり、自己主義で愛に満たされない人間です。しかし、神様はいつもご自分の方から「私もあなたがたに繋がっている」と仰ってくださいます。神様が私達に繋がってくださるからこそ、私達は全ての罪を許していただき、反省する機会を与えられるのです。神様の愛に留まるからこそ、他者を赦し愛し合うことが出来るのです。そしてそれはイエス様が私達に求めておられることです。

広島平和記念資料館の館長であった畑口實さんという方がいます。彼はお父さんを原爆で亡くし、自分の館長室にお父さんの形見の懐中時計を展示していました。お母さんが被爆した時、畑口さんはお母さんの胎内にいました。お母さんは原爆の後遺症のためにお亡くなりになりましたが畑口さんは自分がいつ発病するか分からないと不安そうに言っていました。そんな館長さんが一番感謝しているのは、被爆したお母さんが自分を産み、育ててくれたことだそうです。私はこの話を知ってとても感動した事を今でも覚えています。

今日の福音と畑口さんの物語から、私は戦争で逃亡を余儀なくされる人々について考えました。私が10歳の頃、西ティモールのアタンブアには東ティモールからの難民がたくさん逃げてきました。彼らは戦争によって家を失い、食べ物もなく、テントで暮らしていました。彼らのために援助はあっても、とても少なく彼らは大変苦しんでいました。突然、全てを失うことはどんな理由があっても正当化できません。愛と平和の中で生きることは人間として最低限に認められるべきだと思います。今も世界中で自国を離れ幸せを求めて彷徨う人々が沢山います。どうぞ彼らの為に祈ってください。

世の中には、限りない愛情が色々な世界の中で息づいています。勇気を持って困っている人に手を差し伸べてください。私達もまた、日々の生活の中で互いに愛を分かち合うことができますように。そして隣人愛がいつか難民を救う愛情となりますように、心から祈ります。ぜひ、今週もお元気にお過ごしください。

LET US LOVE EACH OTHER

My brothers and sisters, the weather is slighty cool and cloudy this morning in Melbourne. How are you doing there? We are celebrating the first Sunday in May. In today's Gospel, Jesus teaches us to love one another. "This is my commandment, love one another, as I have loved you". In other words, in our lives, we remain in God's love and use that love to care for and love others. Unfortunately, we are sinful people, who are often selfish and do not care about the existence of others. However, God always tells us to love whenever and wherever we are.

There is a man named Minoru Hataguchi, who is the director of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. He lost his father to the effects of the atomic bomb, and a watch from his father is displayed in his office as his most memorable memory. Mr. Hataguchi was in his mother's womb when the atomic bomb fell on Hiroshima. Eventually, after he was born, his mother passed away as a result of the atomic bomb. He said that the thing he was most thankful for in his life was that his mother, despite being affected by the atomic bomb, still gave birth to him and raised him.

Today's gospel and Mr. Hataguchi's story made me think about people who were forced to flee during the war. When I was 10 years old, many refugees from East Timor fled to Atambua, West Timor. They were homeless, had no food, and lived in tents. Although there was aid for them, it was very little and they suffered a lot. There is no reason for us to justify war. I believe that living in love and peace is the least we can do in life. Even today, there are still many people around the world who leave their home countries and migrate in search of happiness. Let us unite our hearts to pray for them.

Everyone, love without borders lives in different parts of the world. Have the courage to reach out to those in need. May we also share love with each other in our daily lives. I pray from the bottom of my heart for all those who are suffering and for your health. Please stay healthy this week.
