聖霊降臨-ON PENTECOST

 

「聖霊降臨」

ヨハネ15.26-27;16:12-15

皆さん、日本はいよいよ暖かくなってきたと思います。お元気ですか？メルボルンは冬に向かって、寒くなっていますが、皆さんのお祈りのおかげで私は元気です。先週の日曜日、インドネシア人の家族が日本料理を作ってくれて、私と友人3人を招待してくれました。 その家族は、とんかつや味噌汁、抹茶味のお餅を作ってくれました。とても美味しくて、吉祥寺のとんかつ屋さんで食べているような気分になってとても幸せでした。

さて、今日は、約束の聖霊が弟子達の上に降ったことを記念する聖霊降臨日で、昔から「教会の誕生日」と言われてきた祝日です。イエス様 は天に帰られる前、弟子達に、「聖霊が与えられるまで、エルサレムで待ちなさい」と仰いました。弟子達はイエス様の言葉に従い、共に集まり、祈って、待ちました。イエス様はいつ聖霊が与えられるのか全くおっしゃらなかったので、弟子達はとても不安だったと思います。しかし、その 10 日後、五旬祭の日に 弟子たちの物語が大きく動きます。 一同が集まっていた時、突然、激しい風のような音が天から聞こえ、炎のような舌が分かれ分かれに現れ、弟子達一人一人の上にとどまりました。それが「聖霊降臨」です。

弟子達は、この神秘に満ちた聖霊の働きを受けて、イエス様のことについて、公に語り始めました。そして異なる様々な国から来た者達へ、イエス様の御言葉、福音を述べ伝えたのでした。

この福音から私は2018年7月に来日した時のことを思い出しました。私はその時、日本語はまったく話せませんでした。挨拶すらできませんでした。しかし、聖霊の働きがいつも私と共にあったことは確かで、日本語を学んでから約3年間、吉祥寺教会で元気に働くことができました。人にはそれぞれ与えられた仕事があると思います。時々難しそうな仕事であったり、簡単そうな仕事もあります。どのような仕事でも、聖霊の導きがあり、私達の日々の生活に活力を与えてくれます。私は今でも聖霊に導かれてメルボルンで学業に励んでいます。楽しいこともあり苦しいこともたくさんあります。ブログのタイトルのように紙ひこうきの様ですが、全てに感謝して飛び続けようと思います。

ON PENTECOST

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. I guess Japan is finally getting warmer. It is the height of autumn in Melbourne and getting colder, but I appreciate your support and prayers and I am doing well. Last week, an Indonesian family cooked Japanese food for me and three of my friends. The family made tonkatsu, miso soup, and green tea-flavored mochi. I was very happy because the food tasted so good and I felt like I was eating at a tonkatsu restaurant in Kichijoji.

Today is Pentecost, a feast day that commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit that Jesus promised to His disciples. The feast of Pentecost was also known as the "birthday of the church". Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He said to His disciples, “Wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit is given to you.” The disciples followed Jesus' words, gathered, prayed, and waited for what He promised. I think the disciples were very anxious because Jesus never said when the Holy Spirit would be given to them. However, ten days later, on the day of Pentecost, the disciples experienced a great change. When they were all gathered together, suddenly there was a sound like a strong wind from heaven, and tongues like fire appeared in some parts and landed on each disciple. That was “Pentecost”. The disciples, who received the Holy Spirit, began to speak publicly about Jesus. They preached the word of Jesus to many people from different backgrounds.

When reflecting on today's gospel, I was reminded of my experience when I first arrived in Japan in July 2018. At that time, I couldn't speak Japanese at all. I couldn't even greet people in Japanese. I was finally able to work energetically at Kichijoji Church-Tokyo for about three years after studying Japanese at Nanzan University-Nagoya. I guess, sometimes we experience difficult situations. Quite often, we experience struggles in life every day. However, I believe that because of God's help and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome all our struggles well.
